You can’t try to please man and serve God

You can’t serve two masters.

You will either hate the one and love the other or you will be loyal to the one and despise the other. (Matthew 6:24)

You have to ask yourself, who do you really serve?

I can’t try to please God and man at the same time.

I can’t seek God’s approval and mans’ approval at the same time.

I can’t serve God and bow down to mans’ opinions.

Jesus said, “You will hate the one and love the ‘other’’.

The ‘other’ in the Greek means no second choices, opinions, or options

Acts 4:12 says, “There is no ‘other’ name under heaven given among men by which man must be saved.”

Jesus is the only one that saves.

There is no ‘other’

Jesus is the only one you’re called to serve.

You can’t serve riches, man’s opinions, an algorithm, your parents’ worldly dreams for you, you name it, etc, etc...

And God at the same time

“Therefore submit to God. Resist the devil and he will flee from you.

Draw near to God and He will draw near to you.

Cleanse your hands, you sinners; and purify your hearts, you double-minded.” (James 4:7-8)

Paul put it this way:

“Do I now persuade men, or God?

Or do I seek to please men?

For if I still pleased men, I would not be a bondservant of Christ.” (Galatians 1:10)

Who are you trying to persuade?

Who are you trying to prove?

Who are you trying to impress?

“Be diligent to present yourself approved to God, a worker who does not need to be ashamed, rightly dividing the word of truth” (2 Timothy 2:15)

Pray this out loud with King David, the psalmist:

“Let the words of my mouth and the meditation of my heart

Be acceptable in Your sight, O Lord, my strength and my Redeemer.” (Psalm 19:14)

“Lead me in Your truth and teach me, For You are the God of my salvation; On You I wait all the day.” (Psalm 25:5)

“Teach me good judgment and knowledge,

For I believe Your commandments.” (Psalm 119:66)

“Teach me to do Your will,

For You are my God;

Your Spirit is good.

Lead me in the land of uprightness.” (Psalm 143:10)
