Is it a Door or Distraction? How to Discern the Difference

They say it’s the year of open doors

God is opening doors for His faithful children who love to do His will and want His name to be glorified

But how can you discern if that’s a door from God or a distraction from the enemy?

3 Things

#1 Destined vs Desired

Destined

(of a person's future) developing as though according to God’s plan.

Desired

You strongly wished for or intended

#2 Ordained vs Proclaimed

Ordained

A God-given decree

Proclaimed

You announce officially or publicly.

#3 Traction vs Distraction

Traction

the action of drawing or pulling you toward your purpose

Distraction

a thing that prevents you from giving full attention to something else

Doors of Distraction:

  1. Hinder your prayer life (Matthew 6:6)

  2. Lead to your spiritual death (Matthew 27:60)

  3. Make you look fine on the outside, but lead to darkness on the inside (Mark 15:46)

5 Reasons why doors are shut:

  1. Wrong timing, you’re late, you’re not ready, or have no oil (Matthew 25:10)

  2. Wrong relationship with God (Matthew 25:12)

  3. You work iniquity (Luke 13:27)

  4. You’re testing God (Acts 5:9)

  5. You judge and grudge (James 5:9)

6 Ways doors are opened:

  1. Persistence (Luke 11:5-10)

  2. Being a faithful follower to the Shepherd (John 10:1)

  3. Seeking Jesus consistently (John 10:9)

  4. Boldly proclaiming your faith (John 18:15-18)

  5. After deliverance from bondage mindsets (Acts 16:27)

  6. You keep God’s word and don’t deny Jesus’ name (Revelation 3:20)

5 Different Destiny Doors:

#1 Door of Faith (Acts 14:27)

  • leads to others coming to faith

#2 Great and effective door (1 Corinthians 16:9)

  • effective: active/powerful

  • comes with many adversaries

#3 Door of Opportunity (2 Corinthians 2:12)

  • no rest, troubled, conflicts outside, fears inside, downcast + the comfort of God

#4 Door to share the word (Colossians 4:3)

#5 Door to Heaven, to hear God (fasting, prayer, consecration, Revelation 4:1)
